Tasting Notes

This Carmenère has a beautiful dark purple-garnet color and offers an adventurous array of aromas beginning with a blend of dark fruits, fig, peppercorn and agave, coconut meat, cocoa and a wisp of dusty oak. It has an elegant silky texture with a very fine tannin structure supported by perfect acidity to create a wonderfully balanced wine that is contradicted by a rough-hewn element derived from the obvious white pepper/peppercorn making for a fun cognitive juxtaposition. There are interesting layers of ripe cranberry, blackcurrant, and wild blackberry, folded in with dark Baker’s 100% cacao, vanilla bean, valley loam and our Carmenère’s hallmark pepper spice.
