Tasting Notes
This is a Syrah reminiscent of Syrahs gone by. No need to don a helmet for protection against in your face, high alcohol, over the top 2x4s. With the help from a cool vintage, this beautifully refined creature has developed true varietal character, an appreciation of its roots (place) and the value of restraint. It’s color is a ruby red and possesses scents of lavender, violet, hint of white pepper, and slightly damp Forest floor. Fine drying tannins accompany flavors that begin with blueberry, loamy minerals and black raspberry then evolve to huckleberry and cassis. Melded spices of nutmeg and white pepper become more pronounced at mid-palate while anise awaits to expose itself in the very last drops of the glass.  -Chuck Reininger, Winemaker
