The 2016 vintage scored 92 points from Jeb Dunnuck.
Its purple and magenta color stain the glass while dark red and black brambly fruits with nuances of mild wood spice and soft vanilla rush the nose. Magnified black fruit flavors charge the palate—black raspberry, black currant, black plum, blackberry and black cherry—over a field embedded with basalt and loam minerality. Both fine and round tannins add to a soft-rustic texture with balanced acidity. Hints of pepper and cedar shadow earthy dark fruit to the end of a long, adventurous trail. Excellent with grilled beef or elk. ~Chuck Reininger, Winemaker
