Sémillon

2020Sémillon

Birch Creek & Stillwater Creek

Since 2010, we’ve been producing Sémillon from Birch Creek Vineyard in Walla Walla, one of the oldest vineyards dating back to 1997. The warmer temperatures at Birch Creek Vineyard allows the Sémillon to ripen sooner here compared to other Walla Walla vineyards. Typically bottled as a single varietal and always aged in stainless steel, our Sémillon has always been a summer favorite.

Tasting Note

An early fall heat spike quickly ripened flavors and kept sugars relatively low resulting in moderate alcohol.

A tropical nose with early guava, banana and citrus  circulate with apricot blossom, straw and wet stone. The palate affords an enjoyable complexity. Pear, lemongrass, a drop of lime, a hint of banana, beeswax shavings, slate and a pinch of salinity provide a tranquil, earthly adventure. Roasted herb-rubbed chicken, white fish and scallops pair well, as does salty cheese. - Chuck Reininger, Winemaker
